Vaitarna Lake
The lake the property is set on. Walks at sunrise and sunset are the standard guest activity. Coracle and boat rides arranged on request through the butler.
Both houses sit close to the things you'd actually want to do in the Western Ghats — viewpoints, forts, lakes, dams, caves, temples, dhabas. Here is what's worth a half-day or a full one.

An hour by car. A wide bowl of valley named for its silhouette. Most spectacular at sunset; busy on weekends, plan for a weekday morning.
45 minutes. A short trek (1–1.5 hours one way) to a hill fort with cave temples and excellent views across Igatpuri. A school-age kid can finish it.
50 minutes. A small hillside temple with one of the most peaceful approaches in the area. Best at sunrise, before the day crowd arrives.
45 minutes. A 4,264-foot peak, said in local belief to be the birthplace of Hanuman. A moderate trek through forest and rock, with sweeping views from the top. Most rewarding October through February.
30 minutes. One of the twelve Jyotirlinga shrines, set at the foothills of Brahmagiri — the hill that is the source of the Godavari river. Pair the temple visit with the climb if you have a full day.
For longer day-trips: Bhandardara (Wilson Dam, Arthur Lake — 90 minutes) and Kalsubai (highest peak in Maharashtra, serious hike — 90 minutes) are within range if you set off early.
40 minutes. The classic Lonavala sunset spot, with chai stalls and bhajiya carts. Go on a weekday evening for breathing room.
30 minutes. A short, wide dam with shallow water; in monsoon, the flow over the steps is the most-shared photograph from the area. Kids love it. Plan footwear that can get wet.
40 minutes. A viewing platform onto a vertical drop. Less crowded than Lion's Point, and the cloud cover in monsoon is breathtaking.
30 minutes. Two adjoining hill forts; Lohagad is the easier hike (90 minutes up), Visapur the more strenuous. A full half-day. Go early; carry water.
20 minutes. Buddhist rock-cut caves from the 2nd century BCE. Properly maintained, properly worth the visit.
50 minutes. A long, calm reservoir flanked by hills. Day-trip for boating in winter, simple lakeside lunch, or just a slow drive.
For a relaxed evening out: Kinara Dhaba (10 minutes) is the classic Mumbai-Pune highway dhaba — tandoor going, lassi cold, butter chicken honest. If dinner runs short at the house, this is the standard backup.
If there is a fort you would like to trek, a sunset point you would like to catch, or a temple visit you would like to plan around, message us before you check in. We can help with directions, planning, local suggestions, and a few practical comforts for the day - packed snacks or lunch on request, cold drinks for the drive, and an early breakfast if needed.
None of this is mandatory. Most guests spend two days at the property and do not leave the gate. Both are valid.
